Parish of Saint Maryand to all Constables
and others his Majesty's officers of the peace for the said City of London
whom it may concern and to the Porter of Bridewell
Hospital Londonto his Deputy

These are in his Majesty's Name to Command you and every of you
the said Constables forthwith Safely to Convey and deliver into the Custody
of the Porter of the said Bridewell Londonthe Body of
James Steward< no role > being charged before me One of his Majesty's
Justices of the peace in and for the said City of London by the oath
of Richard Symes< no role > with being a Rogue and Vagabond for
having after the passing of a certain Act of Parliament Intitled "an act
to render more effectual the Laws now in being for suppressing unlawful
Lotteries" to wit on the Thirteenth Day of MarchIn the
year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Eighty eight in Crooked
Lane [..]
in the said Citytaken and received of and from the said
Richard Symes< no role > the Sum of Three Shillings
of lawful money of Great Britain and in Consideration thereof then and
there promising and agreeing to repay the said Richard Symes< no role >
the Sum of One pound and One Shilling of like lawful money if a certain
Ticket-Numbered 42.979should be drawn
Fortunate or Unfortunateon the Twenty NinthDay of drawing
if the present English state Lottery Contrary to the form of the Act of
Parliament in such Case made and provided-which said James Steward< no role >
you the said Porter of Bridewell are hereby,
required to receive and him in your Custody safely to keep until the
next General Quarter Session of the peace to be holden at the Guildhall
in and for the said Cityto be further
dealt with according to Law and for your so doing this shall be to you
and each of you a sufficient Warrant Given under my Hand and
Seal this Fourteenth Day of March one thousand Seven hundred
and Eighty Eight .
