the title of
the Act

Whereas in & by an Act of parliament made in the second
yeare of the reign of his present Matie King George the
second touching the licensing Retalers of Brandy and
other distilled liquors, and for better regulation of Licenses
for common Inns and Alehouse, it wasis(Amongst other things)
Enacted That from and after the twenty fourth day of-
June one thousand seven hundred and twenty nine , no
licence should be granted to any person to keep a common
Inn or Alehouse, or to retale any Brandy or strong-
waters, but at a General Meeting of the Justices of the
peace, acting in the Division where the said person-
dwells, [..] to be holden for that purpose, on the first day
of September yearly, or within twenty days after, or
at any other general Meeting of the said Justices to be
holden for the Division Wherein the said person residedresidesresided
and all licences, which should, after the said twenty
fourth day of June one thousand seven hundred and
twenty nine , be granted to the contrary thereof, should
be Null and void, And Whereas the Meetings of the
Justices of the peace in the Several Divisions in the County
of Middx, and in the City and Liberty of Westminster-
for the general Licensing of Alehouse keepers and
Retalers of Brandy and other distilled liquors, were
(before the making of the said recited Act) holden
which was being much more com [..] out than att any other time in as much as
yearely in the Spring time of the yeare, But a great many
