Southwark Depositions of Witnesses taken at the 16th.
day of February 1789 at the house of William
Anderson
< no role > situate in Shad Thames in the parish of Saint
John within the Borough of Southwark in
the County of Surrey on view of the Body
of William Allen< no role > then and there lying
Dead.

William [..] Anderson< no role > of Shad Thames in the Parish
of Saint John within the Borough of Southwark maketh Oath
and saith that the deceased was a Nephew of his that
on Wednesday last about five in the Morning the deced
was to go on Board of a Nepel laying at the Yarmouth
Chain to Work some Bye that he rung that deceased up
for that purpose-that he heard somebody go out of his
(Dept.) house whom he believed to be the deced. that shut
the Door after them-that about [..] 8 Oclock he
was informed by a Boy that the deced. had fallen
Over Board and soon after aMan came and
also informed Dept. to the like effect that about nine
OClock Dept. went down to Cherry Garden Stairs where
he had been informed the Craft or Lighter wherein the
deceased used to work, lay that when he came some
persons were dragging for the deced-that about ten
OClock of the same Morning the deced. was brought
home to Dept. House by some Durggermen-that the deceds Cloaths
even all wet as if he had been in Water that the
experiment directed by the Huming society was
tried on the deceased but without effect.
