For an Assault upon Ann Love< no role > Single Woman

Thomas Cotton< no role > of Red Lyon Street in the Parish of St. John of Wapping
in the County of Middlesex Gentleman maketh Oath that he this Deponent
on Thursday the Fourteenth Day of this Instant October did inquire of Mr. George
Leslie
< no role > a Peruke maker at the Hermitage in the Parish aforesaid with whom
the prosecutrix did live at the time of the supposed Assault for which the Defendt.
is indicated whether the said Prosecutrix did them live with him or where she might
be found in order to be served with a notice of Tryal in the above Cause when the
said Mr. Leslie informed the Deponent that she had left his Service for some
time and where she now resides or might be found the knew not And this
Deponent further said that he did on the same day inquire of the Clerk of Mr.
Robert Tudman< no role > (Who is Attorney for the prosecutrix in this Cause as this
Deponent is informed and believes) it he could tell this Deponent where the
Prosecutrix lived or might be met with to be served with Notice of Tryal as above
when the said Mr. Tudmans Clerk (his Master being out of Town) told, -
this Deponent that he did not know that the Prosecutrix had left the said
Mr. Leslie's Service and that if she had so left her said Masters Service
he knew not where she was gone to or might be met with nor can this
Deponent find the same after the most diligent Inquiry he has been able
to make.
