was requested to take the Chair.</p>
<p n="464">It appearing to this Committee that the Method of raising the<lb></lb>
sum of £4000 for the purchase of the Ground, though it Hands last in the<lb></lb>
above recited Summary of th Business to be brought before them, is in its<lb></lb>
Nature and Importance, the Primary Object of Attention, it was judged necessary<lb></lb>
in the first place to enquire into the Extent of the Powers given to Magistrates<lb></lb>
in this respect by the Statute 24th. Geo: 3d. Chap: 55. And doubts having<lb></lb>
arisen in the minds of the Committee, whether a sufficient paver is granted<lb></lb>
by the said Statute for the purchase of Land otherwise than by Implication<lb></lb>
rather than in express Terms It was Resolved that a Case le drawn<lb></lb>
and laid before some Eminent counsel for his Opinion, that the Committee<lb></lb>
might be fully satisfied on this point and might not enter prematurely on<lb></lb>
the Business submitted to their consideration It was therefore Resolved</p>
