Stanwell Place Octr 23d 1797

My dear Sir

A Bridge at Poyle within the Manor
of Stanwell will be presented by myself, or the High Constable
of that division at the present Session's the once of repair
will certain & falt on the County, or on your humble Servant,
as Lord of the Manor , Tadmit that my preduce poors had
for 50 or 60 years repaird this Bridge, and that till within
these 25 years they kept a Bar across it, to present at this
pleasure, all but fool passengens from passing over it
I have been in possession of the Manor for more than 29 years
and have uniformly refused to repair the Bridge & have
left it open for all the Kings subjects, it is now literally
fathing down & impassable, and asit is in the Highroad
from Stanes to Colnbrook something must soon bidone,
Icontend that this must be done by the County, and
if the Magistrates in Sessions an not satisfied with the decision
of the Court of K B in the Case of the King against the
West Ording of Yorkshire in 5 Bur: & 2 Blachstones
Reports I am ready to have the question argued in the
Kings Bench on a lase, or in anyway which will save
