An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King, at the Parish of Saint George Hanover Square
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the Twenty fourth day of May in the Eighth Year
of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain,
France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas Prickard< no role > , Gentleman,
Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City and Liberty, on View of the Body of
Daniel Burn< no role > then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of William
Jones
< no role > , William Wray< no role > , William Watson< no role > , John Haines< no role > , George Tupper< no role > , Samuel Floyd< no role >
James Norris< no role > , Samuel Smallman< no role > , John Coates< no role > , Richard Serace< no role > , Robert Holland< no role > , Robert

< no role > , Francis Toplady< no role > and Joseph Whalley< no role > good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly
chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how, and by what Means the said Daniel Burn< no role > came to
h is Death, do upon their Oath say, That John Carryl< no role > late of the Parish of St. Mary
le bone in the said County of Middlesex Laborer on the Eleventh day of May in the
Year aforesaid with Force and Arms at the said Parish of St. Mary le bone in the
County aforesaid in and upon the said Daniel Burn< no role > in the Peace of God and of our
said Lord the King their and there being feloniously did make an Assault,
And that the said John Carryl< no role > with both his Hands him the said Daniel Burn< no role >
then and there feloniously did cast and throw to the Ground, and him the
said Daniel Burn< no role > , then and there lying upon the Ground, with the Feet of
him the said John Carryl< no role > , in and upon the lower part of the Belly of him
the said Daniel Burn< no role > , then and there did strike and kick, thereby then
and there giving unto him the said Daniel Burn< no role > one mortal Bruise in and
upon the lower part of the Belly of him the said Daniel Burn< no role > , of which said
mortal Bruise he the said Daniel Burn< no role > at the Parish of St. Giles in the Fields in
the said County of Middlesex , and also at St. George's Hospital Situate in the said
Parish of St. George Hanover Square within the Liberty and County aforesaid, from
the said Eleventh day of May in the Year aforesaid until the Twenty first day
of the same Month and Year, did languish and languishing did live on which
said Twenty first day o May in the Year aforesaid at the Hospital aforesaid,
he the said Daniel Burn< no role > of the mortal Bruise aforesaid did die. And so the
Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say, that the said John Carryl< no role > him the
said Daniel Burn< no role > in Manner and by the Means aforesaid feloniously did hill and slay,
against the Peace of our said Lord the King his Crown and Dignity And that the said
John Carryl< no role > at the time of Committing the Felony and Manslaughter aforesaid, or at any
time Since, had no Goods or Chattels Lands or Tenements within the said Liberty or else where
to the Knowledge or Notice of the said Jurors In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner
as the said William Jones< no role > Foreman of the said Jurors, on the behalf of
himself and the rest of his Fellows in their presence have to this Inquisition
set their Hands and Seals, the Day Year and Place first above written
