Informations taken this Seventeenth day of
July 1771 at the Parish of St. John the Evangelist
with in the Liberty of Westmr . in the County of Midsex
upon an Inquisition touching the Death of Letitia
Turner
< no role > lying dead in the said Parish Liberty and County

William Potter< no role > at the Sign of the Golden Fleece in Marsham
Street in the Parish of St. John the Evangelist Westmr. Victualler
on his Oath saith, That Mrs. Turner and frer Maid Servant
(who live opposite to Dept. in said Street) come to him on Monday last between four & five o'Clock in the Afternoon and
desired him to come to Mrs. Turner & House to open the Deced's
room Door on the Second Floor in Mr Turner's House upon which he went and found the Deced's room
Door Bolted on the inside, Says that after calling to her
Several times and having no Answer Dept. with a Pick As
forced open the Door and went into the Room where he found
the Deced Hanging by a small Cord which was fastened to the
Rail at the feet of the Bed and about her Neck, Says that
he felt her Right Hand, which was Cold, and the Deced
dead, and appeared to have been Hanging some Hours.

James Turner< no role > of Marsham Street Westmr. Limner on his
Oath saith, That Letitia Turner< no role > the Deced (Mother to Dept.)
has lived with him ever since the Death of her Husband, being
about three Years, Says that She was infirm (being about
Eighty Years of Age), and uneasy in her Mind, That she some
time last Winter took some white Precipitate which is of
a Poisonous Quality, but Mr. Lindsay the Apothecary being
called in, gave her something that caused her to Vomit violently
by which means she recovered, Says that the Deced on
Sunday last complained of her Head, was very uneasy and
Spoke very incoherent, That she did not go into Bed that
Right, the he desired her so to do, and that the Deced was
much disturbed in her Mind on Monday Morning last when
Dept. left her in her Bed chamber, and Dept. says that he believes the
Deced was at times Disordered us her Senses.
