Informations taken this Twenty first
day of March 1772 at the Parish of St. Margaret
within the Liberty of Westmr . in the County of
Middlesex upon an Inquisition touching the Death
of Elizabeth Blockley< no role > lying dead in the said
Parish Liberty and County

Richard Moors< no role > Butler to the Right Honoble the Earl of
Waldegrave in Whitehall in the Parish of St. Margaret
Westmr . on his Oath saith That Elizabeth Blockley< no role > the Deced
was Nursery Maid to Lord Waldegrave and had lived there
upwards of two Years & an half, Says that he saw the Deced
in Lord Waldegrave's House sometime on Thursday Morning
last (March 19.) Says that about Ten o'Clock in the
Evening of that day Dept. being with the other Servants
in the Servants Hall, when the Servant wandered where
the Deced could be saying that she had not been at Dinner
or at Tea with them That she had not been soon to go out,
and that her Hat & Cloak were above Stairs, Dept.
and Thomas Burton< no role > a Footman went into several Rooms in the House to look for her
and at last in a Room called the Lumber Room two
Pair of Stairs Dept. found the Deced hanging behind the
Door, by a small Cord which was fastened to a Nail
drove into a Wooden Beam and fastened about the
Deced's Neck, Says that he called Burton saying here
she is, and immediately Dept. and Burton come down
Stairs, and acquainted the Family therewith, Says that
the Deced appeared to be dead, and Dept. believes that she
Hanged herself, Says that the Deced for about a Week
before her Death appeared to be very Dull & Heavy
and spoke very little, but never assigned any Cause for
her being so in Depts. hearing

Thomas Burton< no role > Footman to the Earl of Waldegrave
on his Oath saith, That he saw the Deced last Thursday
in the Forenoon at Lord Waldegrave's, That in the
Evening he was with the other Servants in the Servants
Hall, who wondered where the Deced could be, saying
that she never used to stay out so late, That her Hat &
Cloak
