Informations taken this
Twenty second day of January 1784 at the Parish
of St. Margaret within the Liberty of Westmr. in the
County of Midsex upon an Inquisition touching the
death of Edward Lane< no role > Esqr . lying dead in the
said Parish Liberty and County.

Thomas Watfard< no role > of Bull Alley in the Parish of
Christ Church Surry Waterman on his Oath saith
That Yesterday Dept. was at the Serpentin River
in Hyde Park letting out Skarts to Gentlemen
who were Skaiting upon the Jee [..] upon the
said River, Says that he heard several People
crying out for help, and Deced saw the
Deced Plunging in the Water and coming up
two or three times. and then Sunk, Says
that he got a small Boat and went to the
Place where Deced was Drowned, and with
a Hook pulled the Deced into the Boat and
oathbrought him to the Shore in the Parish
of St. George Hanover Square , Says that the Deced
was carried to the Fox Alehouse at Knightsbridge
in the Parish of St. Margaret Westmr . where every
Means were reced for his Revevery, without
Effect, the Deced having been too long Drowned
Says that the Deced had his Skits on when
he was taken out of the Water and believes
that the Deced was accidentally Drowned in
Heating by the breaking of the [..]
