Informations taken this Twenty third
day of January 1788 at the Parish of
St. James within the Liberty of Westmr
in the County of Midsex upon an
Inquisition touching the death of
Colin Patten lying dead in the said
Parish Liberty and County

Mary< no role > the Wife of William Wheatley< no role > Victuall
at the Sign of the Sun in Poultney Street
in the Parish of St. James Westmr on her
Oath saith, That on Monday Night a little
before twelve o'Clock Colin Patton the Deced
came into Dept. Taproom very much in
Liquor Says that she called for a Pint of
Bear which the Boy Served him with
and the Deced by Accident threw part
of it down, and drank nine of it
Says that the Deced wished to have
more Beer which Dept. demed to let
hai [..] have, Says that Deced wished
Dept. a good Night and went out at
the Door, Says that just as the Deced
was got out at the Door Dept. thought
she heard something fall down, and
immediately went out and saw the
Deced lying upon his Back in the Coach
way in the Street near the Channel,
Says that she called her Boy but they
were not able to lift up the Deced, That
on seeing a Man come along Dept. called
him & he assists to left up the Deced
says that she [..] put some [..] ater into the
Deced's Mouth and he swallowed some of
it and then spoke, asking what was the
