[..] side of the Bed in the Middle Garret by a
Cord which was about Deced's Neck and
fixed to the Ceiling, upon which Deced was
Frightened and fell down Stairs but when she
was able she acquainted Mr. William therewith
and Mr. Norton and another Gentleman (a Lodger)
went to Deced and soon after she heard Mr.
Norton say that he was but down, upon
which she fetched Mr. Lewis an Apothecary
who went to Deced an Dept. followed and
saw the Deced lying upon the Bed having
the Mark of a Cord around his Neck and
appearing to be dead and Dept. believes that
the Deced Hanged himself, Says that the
Deced went Yesterday Morning to see a
May hanged which Dept. believes effected
the Deced very much, who talked much
of it, and repeated some of the Hymns, which
he said the Man used before he was Hanged
and Dept. thinks that it made great impression
upon the Boys Mind, Says that as far as
Dept knows the Deced was a Steady boy &
a good Apprentices.

Cooper on her Oath saith that she was yesterday
Working at Mr. William Borton's in Warwick
Street, and about five o'Clock heard the Deced
go up Stairs into the Garret & Spoke to him but had no Answer
Says that about six o'Clock Elizabeth Hearn
the Maid Servant cause to enquire for the Deced
and went up into the Garret and returned
immediately falling down the Stairs & saying
that the Boy had hanged himself, Says that
Mr Boston and a Lodger went up to Deced
but Dept. did not then go into the Room
Says that an Apothecary was fetched and then
the Lodger said that he had cut him down
and Dept. believes that the Deced Hanged himself

Joseph Becket< no role > a Lodger at Mr. Norton's in
the First Floor on his Oath saith That Yesterday
afternoon about six o'Clock, Mr. Norton's Maid
came out of Mr Garret crying out, and assoon
as she was able told Mrs. Williams that Belly
had Hanged himself, upon which Dept. went
up Stairs and in the Garret by the side of the
Bed saw the Deced Hanging by a Cord which
was about his Neck with a running Noose
and fastened to an Iron Staple in the Ceiling
Says that he cut the Cord and Deced fell down
appearing to be dead, and Dept. believes that the
Deced hanged himself, Says that an Apothecary
attempted to bleed the Deced, and that he rubbed the Deced
for some time without effect, the Deced being
dead.
