An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King at The Parish of Saint George Hanover Square
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the second day of August in the twenty eighth
Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of
Great-Britain, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas
Prickard

chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how, and by what Means the said James Grant< no role > This name instance is in set 2456. came to
h is Death, do upon their Oath say That the said James Grant< no role > This name instance is in set 2456. on the thirtieth day of
June in the Year aforesaid, went to see a certain Porcupine Bear and other
Beasts shewn by a Man whose name is unknown, in a certain Room situate
in Nags Head Yard in the Parish of Saint James within the Liberty and County
aforesaid, and the said James Grant< no role > This name instance is in set 7332456. being in Liquor, went near unto the place
where the said Porcupine Boar was chained, whereupon the said Porcupine Board
did then and there bite the left leg of him the said James Grant< no role > This name instance is in set 2456. , by means
whereof the said James Grant< no role > This name instance is in set 2456. then and there Received a very large and Mortal
Wound in and upon the said left leg, of which said Mortal Wound he the
said James Grant< no role > This name instance is in set 2456. from the said thirteenth day of June in the Year aforesaid,
until the first day of August in the same Year, at the said Parish of Saint
George Hanover Square within the Liberty and County aforesaid, did languish
and languishing did live, on which said first day of August in the Year
aforesaid, at the said Parish of Saint George Hanover Square within the
Liberty and County aforesaid, he the said James Grant< no role > This name instance is in set 2456. of the mortal Wound aforesaid
did die. And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid, do say that the said
James Grant< no role > This name instance is in set 2456. in manner and by the means aforesaid, came to his Death and
not otherwise. And that the said Porcupine Boar by the bite aforesaid caused
the Death of the said James Grant< no role > This name instance is in set 2456. , and is the Property and in the Possession
of a Person or Person to the Jurors aforesaid unknown.

In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner , as the said John
Walker
< no role > Foreman of the said Jurors, on the behalf of himself and the rest of his
Fellows, in their Presence have to this Inquisition, set their Hands and Seals the
Day Year and Place abovementioned.
