1789 at the Parish of Saint James within the Liberty
of Westmr
. in the County of Midsex upon an Inquisition
touching the death of Benjamin in Johnson lying dead
in the said Parish Liberty and County.

Oath saith That this Morning a little after five o'Clock Dept, went
to Work in the Bull Yard in Swallow Street
in the Parish of
St. James
Westminster
when he saw Benjamin Johnson< no role >
the Deced
Hanging by a Cord which was fastened to the top Rail of a Cart
and about the Deced's Neck, the Cart being in the Bull Yard, Says
that other People come to Deced who appeared to be dead, but
Dept. did not touch him, Says that he was soon after informed
that the Deced was cut down and Dept. saw him lye upon
the Ground, being dead, and Dept. believes that the Deced Hanged
himself, Says that he has known the Deced about four Years
that he was of late appeared dejected and low Spirited, being in
Distressed Circumstances and unable to Work.

Dept. was informed by Mr. Foster at the Goat in Swallow Street
that
a man was Hanging at the Bull Yard
upon which he went
there and Saw the Deced Hanging by a Cord fastened to the top
Rail of a Cart in the Yard and about Deced's Neck Says
that with his Knife he cut the Cord and Deced was said down,
being dead and Stiff, and Dept. believes that the Deced
Hanged himself
