Gentleman
taken on Oath before me
One of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the County of
Surry the 3d. day of September 1748
This Information his Oath saith that on Wednesday the 31st. day
of August last Joshua Reid< no role >
the Prisoners present came to this
single man
at [..] Lane aforsaid [..] to
sale a certain Tickett made out for (the Wages of one Joseph
Badget belonging to his) Majesty's five Ship the Ann Galley< no role >
and acquainted their Information [..]
[..] that this Name was Joseph Badgers< no role >
that
the Tickett now produced was made out for the Wages of him
she said Joseph Badge accordingly this Informant aged with
him for the said Tickett of prepared a Bill of Sale for the Same
to which the Persons present set his Mark as & for the name
of Joseph Badger< no role >
& did then receive of their Information
Sum of Eleven Pounds four Shillings and their Informant
further on his Oath saith that he has Reason to be live that
the Prisoner only persented the said Badget [..] with
an Intent to defrand him this Informant of the said Sum
of Eleven Pounds four Shillings
