The Order of Rupert Clark< no role > and John
Stapler
< no role > Esquire, two of His Majesty;s Justices of the Peace ,
in and for the said County, one whereof is of the Quorum, and both resi-
ding within the Limits of the Parish
Church within the Parish of St. George , in the said County. made the
Twenty third Day of October in the Year of our Lord
One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Eight concening a
Female Bastard Child, lately Born in the Parish of St. George , afore-
said, of the Body of Mary May< no role > Singlewoman

WHEREAS it hath appeared unto us, the said Justices, as well upon the
Complaint of the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish
of St. George , as upon the Oath of the said [..] Mary [..]
that she the said Mary May< no role > on the Twenty fifth Day
of September last was delivered of a Female
Bastard Child at the House of Mrs Fisher No.72 Pennington Street
and that the said bastard Child is now chargeable to the said Parish of St. George ,
and likely so to continue and further that James Mullins< no role >
did beget the said Bastard Child on the Body of her the said Mary
May and whereas the said James Mullins< no role >
came before us pursuant to our Warrant Issued for that purpose, but hath
not shewed any sufficient Cause why he the said James Mullins< no role >
shall not be the reputed Father of the said Bastard Child. we therefore,
upon Examination of the Cause and Circumstances of the Premises, as well upon
the Oath of the said Mary May< no role > as otherwise,
do hereby adjudge him the said James Mullins< no role > to be the
reputed Father of the Said Bastard Child.

And thereupon we do order,as well for better Relief of the Said Parish
of St. George , as for the Sustentation and Relief of the said Bastard Child, that
the said James Mullins< no role > shall and do forthwith upon
Notice of this our Order, pay or cause to be paid to the said Churchwardens
and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of St.George , or [..]
them, the Sum offor and towards the Lying [..] of
the said Maryand towards the Maintenance of
the said Bastard Child to the Time of making this our Order And we do also
hereby further order that the saidshall
likewise
pay or causse to be paid to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the
Poor of the said Parish of St. George , for the Time being, or to Some or
one of them, the Sum of Two Shillings and Six pence weekly, and
every Week, form this present Time, for and towards the Keeping, Susten-
tation, and Maintenance of the said Bastard Child, for and during so long Time
as the said Bastard Child shall be chargeable to the said of St. George.

And we do further order,that the said Mary May< no role >
shall also pay, or cause to be paid to the said Churchwardens and Overseers
of the Poor of the said Parish of St. George , for thee Time being, or to some
or one of them, the Sum of Six pence weekly
and every Week, of long as the said Bastard Child shall be chargeable to the
said Parish of St. George , in Case the shall not nurse and take Care of the said
Child herself.
