An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King, at Tothill Fields Bridewell in the Parish of St. Margaret in the City of Westminster
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the Twentieth day of June in the Eighth Year
of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain,
France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas Prickard< no role > , Gentleman,
Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City and Liberty, on View of the Body of
Rachel Mede< no role > a Prisoner them and there lying dead, upon the Oath of Michael
Castleden
< no role > , John Watkins< no role > , James Beam< no role > , James Dobel< no role > , William Williams< no role > ,
Thomas Axtall< no role > , William Almond< no role > , Joseph Smith< no role > , John Garleck< no role > , Leonard Clow< no role > , George

< no role > , William Edgar< no role > and William Arnold< no role > , good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly
chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King when, how, and by what Means the said Rachel Mede came to
h er Death, do upon their Oath say, That the said Rachel Mede being a Prisoner
in Tothill Fields Bridewell aforesaid in the Parish City Liberty and
County aforesaid, on the Eighteenth day of June in the Year aforesaid
at Tothill Fields Bridewell aforesaid, departed this Life by the
Visitation of God in the natural way, to Wit, of a Fever, and not
otherwise. In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the
said Michael Castleden< no role > Foreman of the said Jurors on the behalf of
himself and the rest of this Fellows, in their presence, have to this
Inquisition set their Hands and Seals the Day Year and Place first
abovewritten
