Informations taken this Third day of March
1772 at the Parish of St. George Hanover Square
within the Liberty of Westmr. in the County of Middex
upon an Inquisition touching the Death of George
Clarke
< no role > lying dead in the said Parish Liberty and
County.

Richard Terry< no role > Servant to Mr. Richards a Tinman the
Corner of Cavendish Street on his Oath saith That on Sunday
the 23d. day of February lastDept.about two o'Clock in the
Afternoon. Dept. went into the sign of the Cock & Lyon in Mary bone Lane
(where he commonly used) and there found George Clarke< no role > the Deced
who was his fellow Servant very much in Liquors Says that
Deced asked him to assist him in [..] Lightingthe Lamps that
Afternoon, which Dept. promised to do, and about half an
hour after two o'Clock the Deced & this Dept. went out having
each of them a Pot with Lamp Oil, Says that they Trimmed
several Lamps, and Deced was going to Trim a Lamp in
Somerset Street , Dept. being at the next Lamp, Says that
on hearing the Deced's Pot and the Head of the Lamp
falling down, he turned towards the Deced and saw he
sticking with one of the Iron Rails in the Deced's left leg,
with his Head downwards in the Area before the House
Says that he with some Assistance lifted the Deced off the
Iron rails, that Mr. Foot the Surgeon dressed the Deced's
Leg, and that the Deced was the same day carried to St.
George's Hospital as Dept. was informed Says that there
was no Person near the Deced, when he fell off the Ladder
upon the Iron Rails, and believes that the Ladder upon which
the Deced stood turned round which occasioned the Deced's fall
