November 1773 at the Parish of St. George
Hanover Square within the Liberty of Westmr .
in the County of Midsex upon an Inquisition
touching the death of William Rampton< no role > lying
dead in the said Parish Liberty and County

John Franks< no role > of little George Street Grosvenor Square
Chairman on his Oath saith That on Friday last in the
Afternoon Dept. being in Brook Street saw Mr. Charles
Meadow
< no role > 's Servant and William Rampton< no role > the Deced who was she Servant to Philip Meadows< no role > Esqr. in a
Hackney Coach going towards Mr. Meadows' s House inBrookDavied Street
Says that he soon after followed them to Mr. Meadow's House
where he saw the Deced sitting in a Chair in the Hall
very low Spirited, and could searce speak, having a
great deal of Blood upon his Cloaths, Says that he was
desired to get a Nurse for the Deced, That he got no Nurse
but sat up with the Deced himself, and attended him
ever since until this Morning about a Quarter after
Eight o'Clock, when the Deced desired Dept. to take his
Wig to the Barber to be Dressed, and to bring the Barber
there to Shave him, Says that he Went leaving the
Deced in his Room along being a Coachman) over the Coach Saw
of Mr. Philip Meadows< no role > in David Street in the Parish
of St. George Hanover Square Westmr. Says that he returned
in about ten Minutes or a little more, with the
Barber, and found the Coach house Door fastened,
(which he had left open) upon which he rung at the
Street Door Bell and was let in, and immediately went
into the Deced's Room and not finding him there
he came down and looking about saw the Deced Hanging by a
Cord which was fastened to an Iron Hosp of the
Coach house Door and about his Neck with a running
Knot being on the inside of the Coach house Door with
his Backside very near the Ground. Says that he lifted
the Deced up and that the Barber cut the Cord by which he was Hanging
