Informations taken this Twenty first day
of February 1774 at the Parish of St. George
Hanover Square within the Liberty of Westmr.
in the County of Middlesex upon an Inquisition
touching the death of John Smith< no role > lying dead in the
said Parish Liberty and County.

William Dowse< no role > of Tower Street in the Parish of
St. Gyles in the Fields Officer of Excise on his Oath
saith, That on Monday the fourteenth day of
February instant he went by the desire of Mr.
Hunter to St. George's Hospital to make the will of
John Smith< no role > the Deced whom he found in the Hospital
very Sensible Says that he asked the Deced how
the Accident happened to him to which Deced
Answered that he was knocked down by a Horse going
along the Road at Pimlico , and that a Cart wheel
had gone over both his Thighs and broke them
but Dept. says that the Deced did not charge
the Carter or the Man riding the Horse, with
having done it willingly, but Deced said that it
was a bad Accident, but that he hoped to
recover.

Wm. Dowse< no role >

Thomas Hunter< no role > of Cook's Court Carey Street Gent
on his Oath saith, That the Deced was to come
from Chelsea (where he lived) to Deponents House
on Wednesday the Ninth Instant, says that
about two o'Clock that afternoon Mr. Knight an
Apothecary came to Depts. House and informed
him that John Smith< no role > the Deced was going towards
Depont. House that Morning, and in endeavouring
to avoid the Guard, was going to cross the Road at
Pimlico, that a Butchers Boy rode against the
Deced
