Informations taken this Thirty first
day of January 1776 at the Parish of St.
Margaret within the Liberty of Westmr .
in the County of Midsex upon an Inquisition
touching the Death of John Hurst< no role > lying dead
in the said Parish Liberty and County

William Jefferys< no role > House Surgeon at the Westmr
Hospital in the Parish of St. Margaret Wesmr in
his Oath saith That on the Eleventh day of Decr.
last John Hust< no role > the Deced was brought to said Hospital
having a wound in his Throat about one Inch
and an half in breadth and about half an Inch
in depth, the Windpipe being Divided which
prevented his taking any Nourishment, the
wound appearing to have been given by some
cutting Instrument, Says that the Wound was
Dressed and proper care taken of Deced in the
Hospital, but Deced died about three o'Clock last
Monday Morning January 29th. and Dept. believes
the wound abovementioned to be the sole cause
of his Death, Says that the Deced when he
was brought to the Hospital looked wild and
appeared to be Insane.

Rachel Hurst< no role > Widow of John Hurst< no role > the Deced on
her Oath saith that on the Eleventh day of Decr last
Dept. being with the Deced at their Lodgings at Mrs.
Sellers In Horse shoe Alley in the Parish of St. Margaret
Westmr. when the Deced went to a Chost of Drowned
took out his Razor, and with it gave himself a
wound in his Throat says that she went to him
and seeing the Razor at Deced's Throat she took hold of if
and endeavouring to force it out of Deced's Stand, and
broke the Razor in Struggling, and Deced bled very
much from the wound in his Throat, and fell down
upon the Floor, upon which Dept, called in some
Neighbours, who lifted him up, and set him upon
