Examination TextJames Riley aged 67 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon his oath saith that he never was married, that he was a yearly hired servant to Miles Carrol a Victualler at the sign of the Green Man in Charing Cross in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid for the space of two years at the yearly wages of 6 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same in 1741, that he never kept house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since. Sworn the ninth day of June 1757 before Benjamin Cox.
