Depositions of Witnesses taken at London
that is to say at the Parish of Allhallows
Barking in the Wards of Tower in London
aforesaid the 9th day of February 1790
on view of the Body of William Murphy< no role >
then and there lying Dead

Edward Smith< no role > a Mariner of and belonging to the Brig or Vessel
called the Elizabeth now lying in the River Thames where of Henry
Richmond
< no role > is Master maketh Oath that on Sunday Noon last Dept
being in the Forepart of the said Vessel and talking to the deced
who was in the Shrouds of the Brig or Vessel called the Linen
Hall then lying, alongside the Elizabeth to which Vessel the deced
belong [..] the deced then comeing, down not of the Shrouds by some
means his feet slight and he fell backwards into the Water
between the two Vessels and in about half a minute sunk under
the Water and Dept. saw nothing of him until about two hours
after when Dept. saw him taken up by a Waterman quite
dead that there was no person near the deced when he fall
but his falling happened accidentedly in the manner before
mentioned.
