of Opinion And doth declare that the Paragraph
contained in the Thirty first page of the said Pamphlett
So far as the same relates to and reflects upon the
Justices now in this Comission of the Peace is false
Scandalous and malicious, And doth Order that
the thanks of this Court be and they are hereby
given to the Comittee of his Majestys Justices of the
Peace for Suppressing of Gameing Houses for their
great and eminent Services, And that they and
all other his Majestys Justices of the peace for this
County be and they are hereby desired to continue
their diligence and Zeal in prosecuting the
Gamesters and Keepers of Gameing Houses, And
that this Order be entred in the Publique Book
of Orders,

This Order is vacated
by a subsequent
Order made in
January Sess: 1724

This Court considering that it may very much
conduce to the Peace and good Order which ought to
be kept and Observed within this County to have
fit and proper Persons chosen into the Offices of
Housekeeper of Hicks hall and Cryer of the
General and Quarter Sessions of the Peace for
this County as also into the Offices of the Keeper of
New Prison and Keeper of the House of Correction
at Clerkenwell in this County, when the same
become respectively Vacant And that the Election
of Such Officers by way of ballotting will be the
most proper Method for the Chusing of them It is
thereupon Ordered by this Court that the method
of Electing the said Officers or any other Officers
(who have Officers of profit) under the nomination
and appointment of the Justices of the Peace for
this County Shall for the future be by way of
Ballotting and not otherwise.
