In Pursuance of the Annexed order of Referrence We
the Justices therein named who have Subscribed our Names
hereunto have Inspected and examined the Accounts of William
Cuxon
< no role > Thomas Gibson< no role > and Thomas Shadd< no role > Surveyors of the
Highways therein mentioned upon their Oaths and found their
said Accounts Seated in manner Following (viz) that they
had received on the Ballance of the Surveyors Amounts for
the year 1718 and on their Collecting Book for the year
1719 in the whole the sum of £202..17..0½ and that
they had disbursted in the whole as by the severall Articles
in their said Accounts the sum of £194.05..9½ and that
the Ballance was £8..11..3 due from the said Surveyors
for the year 1719 to their successors for the year 1720. Two of
which Said Articles contained in the Said £194..05..9½
We think ought to be disallowed in part as an over charge
and an unnecessary Expence (viz) out of Gabriel Leaky< no role > This name instance is in a workspace. 's
Bill being in the whole £10..09..10 to be disallowed
£3..09..10 and out of an Article of Six pounds for expences
to be disallowed £3. But some other Articles comming
under our Consideration whether they ought to be allowed
or disallowed and are also included in the said £194..05..9½
being for work and Expences done and Expended in St Johns
Court in the parish of St James Clerkenwell amounting
in the whole to £51. And are as Follows. For Posts &
Setting them £12..07. The Paviers Bill £9..06..6. For
Setting the grate and making the Dreyn £3..01..6.
And for 150 Loads of Ballast and Carriage of the Same
£26..05. Upon the Examination of which a Dispute
arising among the Parishioners of the said parish
whether the said St: John's Court ought to be repaired
by the said Surveyors or the Inhabitants thereof in the
Termination of which We not agreeing Do therefore
Submit the same to the Judgment of this Court. And if
this Court shall be of Opinion that the said Court ought
to be repaired by the said Surveyors then we Find that
there will remain in the hands of the said Surveyors
only
