An Inquisition Indented. taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King at the Parish of St. John the Evangelist
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the First day of February in the Thirty second
Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of
Great-Britain, France, and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas
Prickard
< no role > , Gentleman , Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City and Liberty, on
View of the Body of Margaret Jones< no role > then and there lying dead , upon
the Oath of John Randall< no role > , James Sculthorp< no role > , William Holton< no role > , Robert Waite< no role >
James Randall< no role > , William Clayton< no role > , John White< no role > , William Wilson< no role > , Henry Fry< no role > ,
Samuel Townshead< no role > , James Bass< no role > , John Griffiths< no role > , Miles Walker< no role > , and
William Spencer< no role > good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly
chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how, and by what Means the said Margaret Jones< no role > came to
h er Death, do upon their Oath say , That the said Margaret Jones< no role > not being of
sound Mind Memory and Understanding but Lunatick and distracted on the
Thirty first day of January in the Year aforesaid at the said Parish of St. John the
Evangelist within the Liberty and County aforesaid into the River Thames these did
cast and throw herself by means of which said casting and throwing she the said
Margaret Jones< no role > in the waters of the said River was then and there suffocated
and drowned of which said Suffocation and drowning she the said Margaret
Jones
< no role > then and there died And so the James aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid
do say that the said Margaret Jones< no role > not being of sound Mind Memory and understanding
but Lunatick and distracted in manner and by the means aforesaid did drown and hill
herself

In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the said John

his Fellows in their presence have to this Inquisition set their Hands and
Seals the Day Year and place abovementioned
