Examination TextThe Examination of Catharine Powell a Rogue and Vagabond and her Illegitimate Child John aged fourteen Months, apprehended by George Gairdner one of the Beadles of the parish of Saint Martin in the Fields, within the Liberty of Westminster and in the County of Middlesex and brought before Me one of his Majesty?s Justices of the Peace for the Liberty of Westmr. taken this 13th day of July 1786 // This Examinant on her Oath saith, that She was born in the County of Waterford in the Kingdom of Ireland & hath not done any Act to gain a Subsequent Settlement in England // Sworn the Day & Year first above written Before // B Bd W // The Information of George Gairdner one of the Beadles of the Parish of Saint Martin in the Fields Taken this thirteenth of July in the Year 1786 on his Oath saith // That he did this Day apprehend Catherine Powell Singlewoman and her Illegitimate Son John aged fourteen Months a Rogue and Vagabond, in the parish of Saint Martin in the Fields aforesaid vizt. wandering abroad in a loose idle and disorderly Manner, and lodging in the open Air, contrary to the Statute in that Case made and provided // Sworn the day & Year first above written Before // This child born in the House
