Examination TextLucy Bateman aged Seventy five Years and upwards in the Workhouse of and in the Parish of Saint Martin in the Fields, on her Oath saith, that She is the Widow of Thomas who died about 24 Years ago, to whom she was married at the Parish Church of Saint Bennet, near Doctor?s Commons in the City of London about fifty years ago, that since the Death of her said Husband She lived in & rented a House situate in that part of Chandos Street which is the parish of St. Martin in the ffields for the space of Five years at the yearly Rent of Thirty pounds quitted the same about 30 Years ago that her said Husband never after kept House rented a Tenement of Tenpounds by the year nor did any Act to gain any subsequent Settlement nor hath she this Deponent since his Decease. // Sworn this 4 Day of August 1786 before John Collick // Lucy Bateman her Mark // B b Wd // P
