| Examination Text | Elizabeth Smith aged 40 Years removed from St John the Evangelist upon her Oath saith that she is the Widow of Barnard Smith who died on the 14th Day of December last & to whom she was Married by license at the Parish Church of Saint Luke Chelsea November 2d 1780 that her said Lake Husband lived in & rented a House Known by the Sign of the Sun in long Acre in the Parish of Saint Martin in the ffields for the space of Nine Months at the Yearly Rent of ffifty Pounds beside Taxes quitted the same about July 1781 since which her said Husband hath not rented Ten Pounds by the Year paid any Parliamentary or are Parochial Taxes not done any Act to gain a subsequent Settlement , nor has she this Examinant since his decease , that she hath four Children living by her said late Husband to wit John born October 28th/82 Mary born Sepr 25/84 Elizabeth born ffebruary 6/86 & Charles born November 22d/88.
