An Inquisition Indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at the Parish of
Saint Saviour within the Borough of Southwark in the County of Surrey on the ninth day of October in the
thirtieth Year of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and
Ireland King defender of the faith and so forth Before Thomas Shelton< no role > Gentleman Coroner of our said
Lord the King for the City of London and Borough of Southwark on view of the Body of Mary Deane< no role >
now here lying dead by the Oath of John Ryan< no role > , John Pool< no role > , William Brock< no role > Miller , John Gosling< no role >
Benjamin North< no role > , Samuel Day< no role > , Thomas Tuder< no role > , Richard Bell< no role > , Samuel Wills< no role > , John Edwards< no role > , Michael
Ellis, William Withers< no role > Jones and Abraham Player good and lawful Men of the Borough aforesaid in
the County aforesaid who being now here duly chosen sworn and charged to Inquire for our said
Lord the King when how and in what manner the said Mary Deane< no role > came to her death say upon
their Oath that the said Mary Deane< no role > not being of sound mind memory and understanding but lunatic
and distracted on the seventh day of October in the Year aforesaid at the parish aforesaid within the
Borough aforesaid in the County aforesaid one end of a certain small piece of Cord of no value unto and
about a certain Iron nail fixed in the wall of a certain Room in the dwelling house of oneWoolfe
in Park Street within the Borough aforesaid in the County aforesaid and the other end of the said piece of Cord
[..] and about her own Neck then and there did fix tye and fasten means whereof she the said
Mary Deane< no role > did then and there hang strangle and suffocate herself of which said hanging Strangling
and suffocation she the said Mary Dean< no role > did then and there die And so the Jurors aforesaid upon
their Oath aforesaid do say that the said Mary Dean< no role > not being of sound mind memory and understanding
but lunatic and distracted in manner and by the means aforesaid did hang and kill herself
In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the said John Ryan< no role > the Foreman of the said
Jurors on behalf of himself and the rest of his Fellows in their presence have to this Inquisition
set their hands and Seals the day Year and place first above written.
