London Deposition of a witness taken asLondonSouthwark
that is to say, at the parish of Saint George
within the Borough of Southwark in the
County of Surrey this 2nd. day of August
1799before meon view of the body of
Mary Ann Foster< no role > now here lying dead

William Lyns< no role > a Servant to the Keeper of the House of
Correction in Saint George's Fields in the parish of Saint George
within the Borough of Southwark in the County of Surrey maketh
Oath that on or about the 6th.d ay of July last the deced was committed to the House of Correction
aforesaid as a Vagrant by virtue of a Commitment by Richard
Fleming Esquire one of His Majestys Justices of the peace for the
County Surrey aforesaid to be detained until the next quarter
Session of the peace that should be holden for the said County
That she appeared then to be deranged and insane and
continued so until the time of her Death hereafter mentioned
That during the time she has been in confinement she refused
sustinance of every kind continually and so much so
that she has been forced at many times by forcing sustenance
down her Throat with a Funnell-That during the time
she has been in confinement she has had every attention
payed to her that the situation of the place would admit
and has been attended by the surgeon of the prison-That the
deced continued to decline and get worse daily until
between two and three oClock on Wednesday afternoon last
[..] she departed this Life.
