LondonDepositions of Witnesses taken at London
that is to say at the parish of Saint Bartholomew
the Less in the Ward of Farringdon without
in London aforesaid this 8th. day of August
1799 on view of the body of James Watson< no role >
now here lying Dead

William Oaker< no role > a Carman and a Lodger at No. 6 Rose Lane< no role >
spitalfields maketh oath that between five and six oClock
last Tuesday Night Dept. observed a Country last drawn by two Horses
going [..] Gateway of the Bear and Ragged Staff West
smith [..] That Dept. heard a Woman say for (writs sake
Carnaby speaking as Dept. supposed to the driver of the said
Cart) stop your Horses or Cart for you have killed a Child
Dept. was then on the off side of the Cart that the Cart was
immediately bucked and Dept. observed a Child the deced
fall on its back to the Ground-Dept. went to the Child
that the Cart near thenforcedbucked out of the Gateway
towards Smithfield [..] Dept. took the deced up and
blood came from its Nostrils that it appeared hurt and
was senseless Dept. then observed the Driver of the Cart
who had a Velveteen Jacket on-that a person came and
took the Child from Dept and took it into the Bear and
ragged staff Publick house Dept. followed-that the Window
of the publick house being open Dept. observed the Driver of the Cart
outside at the Window that the Driver seemed very much concerned
and sayed he was very sorry it had happened and that he
did not see the Child.
