THE Information and Complaint of
Sarah Gibson< no role > the Wife of
William Gibson< no role > of Hendon
in the County aforesaid Blacksmith
taken and made before me
Edward Montagu< no role > Esqr one of his Majesty's Justices
of the Peace for the said County
the twenty sixth Day of April in
the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and
eighty eight

Who on h er Oath saith,
That she keeps a Shop at Hendon aforesaid
& that this afternoon two Men came in a Chaise and
asked for a pair of Childs. Shoes & also for some
Stockings, both of which she shewed them but they
did not approve of either. And this Informant says
that they then asked her if she could charge
a Guinea & beleiving she could, took from her Pocket
a Parcell of Silver she had there, & also two Guineas
which were mixed therewith, & holdg. the same in her
Open hend said "There is a bad Shilling amongst
them." upon which one of the aforesaid Persons, (who called
himself John Gray< no role > , under pretence of distinguishing
the bad shilling) [mark] Fraudulently & deceitfully took
carried away one of this Informants. Guineas That
she immediately discovered the Loss & carried Pursuit to
be made, & having come up with them in the Parish
of Wilsden they were brought back to Hendon & this
Informant says the said John Gray< no role > returned to her
the Guinea he had so taken away & is possitive it
is the same she had in her hand, for it was a hight
one & had a black Speck on the head, by which Mark
she can Possitively swear it is the same she so lost.
