Inhabitants of the parish of St. John Clerkenwell in
this County exhited their humble peticon & appeale
unto this Court on Tuesday the seventh day of July
[..] stant Setting forth that the said parish was lately a
district or part of the parish of St. James Clerkenwell
within the St. County & erected & made into a paris
by vertue & in pursuance of an Act of Parliamt. made
in the tenth yeare of the reign of her late Matie. Queen
Ann for building Fifty new Churches in & about London [..]
and of other Acts relateing thereto, But by the Sd Acts
It is Provided that the Rates for releif of the poor shall
be collected there the whole limits of the old Parish
by the officers of the District left to the Old Church Untill
a Division of such Rates Shall be agreed Upon between
each parish, And that a Rate hath been lately made
for the releif of the poor within the limits of the sd [..]
almost rents they pay, others even beyond their
rents, and Severall of them rated for personall
estates, whilst others of the Inhabitants especially in
the old Parish haveing large Stocks in trade Etc are
many of them not at all rates & others much lower
than usuall in respect of Such Stacks Etc and even the
aswell as others in respect of their rents are rated [..]
