arising therefrom for and towards the Expences of building, finish-
ing, and furnishing the said intended new House of Correction,
or in Aid of the County Rates hereby charged with the Payment
of the said Annuities; and whereas it may so happen, that some
Part of the Ground to be purchased for the said intended new
House of Correction may not be used for that Purpose, and it may be
for the Benefit of the said County that such Part should be sold, let
out, or otherwise disposed of, as aforesaid; Be it therefore Enacted,
That it shall be lawful for the Justices of the Peace , assembled at
any General or Quarter Sessions of the Peace to be holden for the
said County, and they are hereby authorized and impowered, if
they shall think it expedient and for the Benefit of the Inhabitants
of the said County so to do, to fell, let out, or otherwise dispose
of to the best Advantage, all or any Part or Parts of the said
Quakers Ground, and also the present House of Correction , and
the Scite thereof, and the Premisses belonging thereto; and also, to
sell, let out, or otherwise dispose of, any Ground which shall be
purchased for the said intended House of Correction, which shall
not be made use of for the same, or the Yards, Outlets, and
airing Places belonging thereto; and the Sale and Conveyance of
any such Ground and Premisses, under the Hands and Seals of the
said Justices, assembled as aforesaid, or any Three or more of them
(of whom the Chairman shall be One) shall be good, valid, and
effectual in the Law, to all Intents and Purposes; and the Money
arising by such Sale shall be paid to the Treasurer to be appointed as
aforesaid, and applied in like Manner as any other Money, which
shall come to his Hands by virtue of this Act, is directed to be ap-
plied, or in Aid of the said County Rates, as the said Justices so
assembled shall direct and appoint.

Saving to the
Justices the
Powers given
by former
Acts.


Provided always, and be it further Enacted and Declared,
That nothing contained in this Act shall be construed to take
away, abridge, or alter any of the Powers or Authorities given
by any former Acts of Parliament to Justices of the Peace , re-
specting Houses of Correction; but that the Justices of the Peace
for the County of Middlesex shall and may execute the same, and
the Powers thereby given, as if this Act had not been made.

Public Act.


And be it further Enacted, That this Act shall be deemed
and taken to be a public Act; and all Judges, Justices, and
other Persons, are hereby required to take Notice thereof as such,
without specially pleading the same.
