informed and believes And this Deponent Saith that the said
Judictments was preferred and this Prosecution carried on with a view
to make an Example of the said Defendants and thereby to [..]
a most doing Conspiracy which at that time did and for some time
before had existed among the Journeyman Shoemakers through out the
whole Trade And this Deponent Saith that by means of this and
other Prosecutions which have been carried an against the Principal
offenders amongst the Journey men for similar Offences the
Gererality of them have returned to a due sense of their duty and have
returned to the Employ of their different Masters and continue to
work at the usual Rates and prices and particularly tha above
mentioned Defendants Joseph Mansbridge< no role > alias Webb and
William Fawett who have also(together with others)signed
a written paper acknowledging their Error and promising not only
to continue to work at the usual Rates themselves but also to
endeavour to persuade such other of their fellow workman who by
misguided Nations might still refuse to return to their work and
also acknowledge their thanks to the Masters for their
Condescension in promising at their Request not to proceed any
further in the Prosecution commenced against them
