Informations taken this Fifth day of
December 177 [..] at the Parish of St Anne within
the Liberty of Westmr . in the County of Midsex
upon an Inquisition touching the death of
Richard Hays< no role > lying dead in the said Parish
Liberty and County.

James Ox< no role > a Lodger at Mr Bellot at the White Horse
in Brooks News Labourer on the Oath saith That
Richard Hays< no role > the Deced (who was a Coachman) had
Lodged in the same House with Dept. for two or three
Years last past. That they went together last Saturday
to seek for a Servant in Old Bond Street but were
not hired, Says that about Eight o'Clock that Night
that thus went into att blick Houce ill Wardour Street
the Sign of the Golden Lyon and out for Mrs. Hays
(who passed for Dept's Wife who came to them,
and they all went to Covent Garden Hay house
and about Eleven o'Clock returned to the Golden
Lyon where they eat some Bread & Cheesa and
drank some Bear, Says that the Deced and
this Dept. about Twelve o'Clock went together to
the Hay Market , and Mrs. Hays promised to follow
them but did not come, upon which they returned
and called at Mrs. Hays Lodging but could not
find her which made the Deced very uneasy, Says, that
that they agreed to S [..] together at a House
in Meards Passage in the Parish of St. Ann Westmr . and next Morning about
[..] o'Clock (Decer 4) they come down Stairs together
and Dept. Breakfasted, with Mrs. Sherriff, Says that
the Deced went up Stairs, but Dept. then thought
that he was gone into the Yard, Says that after
Break fast a Sad was sent up to fetch at late
out of Deced's Room, That the Lad come Town
immediately saying that the Door was Locked and
