Examination TextWilliam McGhee aged 48 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed as a vagrant from the Borough of Harwich in the County of Essex upon his oath saith that he hath been informed and verily believes that he was born in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid, that he never was bound an apprentice kept house rented tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together, that this Examinant hath heard and believes that his father was born in the Highlands in Scotland, that he was a soldier, that he never did any act to gain a subsequent settlement to this Examinant's knowledge, that he this Examinant was married to his present wife Mary Ann at Gant in Flanders 21 years ago by whom he hath two children to wit Mary aged 17 years and William aged 10 years both now with this Examinant. Sworn the 27th Day of November 1765 before Peter Planck.
