Examination Text | The Examination of Cecilia Cooke lodging with Mrs Anson at the bottom of Charles Court in the Strand in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields within the liberty of Westminster taken upon oath this 25th day of August in the year of our Lord 1767. This Examinant on her oath saith that John Cooke aged about 13 years (this Examinant's brother) now in the workhouse of and in the Parish aforesaid was born in Lumley Court in the Parish aforesaid, that he the said John Cooke never was bound an apprentice nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together, that John Cooke (this Examinant's Father) never kept house rented tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant to this Examinant's knowledge, nor can she tell where her father was born, that her father and mother are both dead. Sworn the day and year abovesaid before Thomas Balack. |
