Examination Text | Richard James aged 62 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St. George Hanover Square upon his oath saith that before his intermarriage and while single and unmarried he this Examinant was a yearly hired servant in the capacity of a Footman to General Pulteney one of the Equiries to his late Majesty in the Mews in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of two years at the yearly wages of 6 pounds diet and lodging, and then intermarried, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since he quitted the said service in the Mews, when unmarried. Taken in the workhouse the ninth day of October 1767. |
