Examination TextThe Examination of Hannah Spencer lodging in Hungerford Market in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields within the liberty of Westminster taken upon oath this sixth Day of October in the year of our Lord 1767. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 22 years of age, that she never was married nor bound an apprentice, that she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Life, Coal Merchant in Craven Street in the Parish aforesaid for the space of two years at the yearly wages of 6 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same two years ago, that she never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since, And this Examinant on her voluntary oath further saith that she is now Great with child or children which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the Parish aforesaid, and that Ralph Titchley a Hatter whose absconded did beget her with child or children she now goeth with is pregnant of, and that he the said Ralph Titchley is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the day and year abovesaid before Peter Planck.
