Examination TextJane Eager aged 50 years and upwards lodging at Mr Rogers's in Moors Yard in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the widow of William Eager (who died last Whit Monday) to whom she was married at the Fleet about 22 years ago, that her said husband was a Clerk in one of his Majesty's ships of war, that her said husband lived in and rented an house in further Scotland Yard in the Parish aforesaid for the space of one year and an half at the yearly rent of 12 pounds, quitted the same about 19 years ago, that her said husband never kept house rented a tenement of of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes afterwards, nor hath she this Examinant since the death of her said husband. Sworn the 19th Day of November 1767 before Thomas Kynaston.
