Examination TextWilliam Demain aged 16 years and upwards lodging at Mr Crampon and Spinage [sic] Paper Hangers in Cock Spur Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon his oath saith that he never was bound an apprentice nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together, that his Father John Demain was a Smith by trade and lived in and rented an house in Coventry Court in the Parish aforesaid for the space of several years, but what rent he paid for the same he this Examinant cannot tell, quitted the same nine years ago, that his Father never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes after he quitted the said house in Coventry Court, that his father and mother are both dead. Sworn the 20th Day of October 1767 before Thomas Balack.
