upon the present Inhabitants of the said County:

May it therefore please Your MAJESTY,

That it may be Enacted; And be it Enacted by the KING's
Most Excellent MAJESTY, by and with the Advice and Con-
sent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in
this present Parliament assembled, and by the Authority of the
same, That the Justices of the Peace assembled at any General or
Quarter Sessions of the Peace, to be holden for the said County
of Middlesex , shall, and they are hereby authorized and impowered
to raise such Sum or Sums of Money as shall be necessary for
purchasing Ground, and erecting thereon a proper and commodi-
ous House of Correction for the said County, with all necessary
Conveniencies thereto, and for fitting up and furnishing the same;
such Money to be raised by the granting of Annuities, to be payable
out of the Rates to be laid and collected for the public Purposes
of the said County (called the County Rates) to such Persons as
shall advance Money for the Purchase of such Annuities, during
the natural Lives of such Purchasers, or of such Persons as shall
be nominated by or on the Behalf of such Purchasers, at the Time
of paying the Purchase Money for such Annuities; which Annu-
ities shall be granted and made payable either with or without
Benefit of Survivorship, and in such Manner as the said Justices
of the Peace , at their General or Quarter Sessions, shall think
proper.

And be it further Enacted, That the several Annuities, so to
be purchased and granted as aforesaid, shall be and they are
hereby charged upon, and shall be paid and payable from Time
to Time out of, the Money arising by the said County Rates, in
Preference to any other Payment out of, or Charge upon, the
said Rates, and the Treasurer of the said County is hereby autho-
rized and required to pay the same accordingly ; and the several
Purchasers of the said Annuities, duly paying the Considera-
tion or Purchase Money for the same, their respective Executors,
Administrators, and Affigns, shall be entitled to have, receive,
and enjoy the respective Annuities to be purchased and granted as
aforesaid, and all Benefit and Advantage accruing thereto, free
from all Taxes and Deductions whatsoever, and shall have good,
sure, absolute, and indefetible Estates and Interests therein, ac-
cording to the true Intent and Meaning of this Act ; which
