Examination TextSarah Burgess aged 31 Years lodging and No 3 in Mercer Street upon her Waters says that she was never Married that she served Eight Years and four Monthsunder a yearly hiring with Mr John Beavan a Baker in Saint Martins Lane in the Parish of Saint Martin in the Fields at seven Pounds by the Year Wages for the force Five Years & 8 Pounds for the last Three Years & Ford Months diet & lodging, quitted the same about ffive Months ago since which she hath done no Act to gain a subsequent Settlement. And this Examinant upon her voluntary Oath further saith that she is now great with Child or Children which is or are likely to be born a Bastard or Bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish of Saint Martin in the ffields and that Thomas Brookbank a Baker whose to be heard of at the Black horse in Vine Street had several Times carnal Knowledge of her Body and that one of which Times did beget her with the Child or Children she now goeth with & is pregnant of and that he the said Thomas Brookbank is the true & only ffather thereof and no Man else. Sworn this 17th Day of September 1793 before John Collick Sarah Burgess Child Born in the House Octr 9/93 & baptised Thomas Sarah Burgess
