Examination TextAnn Jeffs aged 59 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the widow of Richard Jeffs (who died about 10 years ago) to whom she was married at St Martin's Church about 40 years ago, that he was a Cooper by trade and lived in and rented an house (now Mr Treslove's) the corner of Mays Buildings in St Martin's Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid for the space of 18 years at the yearly rent of 23 pounds besides taxes, quitted the same about 22 years ago, that he never kept house rented 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes afterwards, nor hath she this Examinant since the death of her said husband, nor been a yearly hired servant. Taken in the workhouse the 27th Day of September 1756.
