Upon reading the humble Petition of
Frances Markwick< no role >
Widow
and Relict of
John Markwick< no role >
deceased late
Keeper
of New Prison
at Clerkenwell
in this County
Exhibited unto this Court Setting forth that she was
but very lately Marryed to the said Mr. Markwick
whereby she was obliged to leave of her way of Trade
which she before followed and that by reason of his
Sudden and unexpected death She is left in a very
destitute
and deplorable Condition the said Mr. Markwick
being greatly Indebted to many Persons before such
his Marriage with the Petitioner which she was A
Stranger to, And that she is informed that this Court
hath been pleased to appoint her late Husbands.
Turnkey to take care of the said Goal & Prisoners
therein untill another Keeper Shall be elected and
that he shall have the Perquisites and Benefitts
ariseing thereby to his own use, Yet the Petitioner
most humbly hopes in regard of her very Unhappy
Circumstances as herein before menconed that this
Court will be pleased to grant She may have the
benefitt of the said Goal untill A New Keeper be
Chosen upon makeing the said Turnkey such
allowance for his Service as was formerly given
him by her deceased husband, Whereupon It is
Ordered by this Court that it be and it is hereby
recommended and referred unto Sr.
