Parish ofSt. James Westminster in the County of
Middlesex 'and to the Church-Wardens and
Overseers of the Poor of the Parish ofSt. Thomas a Becket in ye clift

WHEREAS Complaint hath been made by you, the Church-
Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish
ofSt. James Westminster unto us whose Hands and Seals are
hereunto set, Two of his Majesties Justices of the Peace (Quorum
unus) for the County aforesaid, thatMary Swallow< no role > Widdow
Aged about Thirty Seven years, and her two Children (Vizt)
Jane< no role > aged abt. five Years of Elizabeth < no role > aged abt. two Years are
lately intrudedand Comeinto your said Parish of
St. James there to inhabit as Parishioners contrary to
the Laws relating to the Settlement of the Poor, andarethere likely
to become Chargeable, if not timely prevented. And whereas up-
on due Examination and Enquiry made into the Premissesas also
Upon Oathit appears
unto us, and we accordingly Adjudge, That the saidMary Swallow< no role >
and her Said two Children are
likely to become chargeable unto the said Parish ofSt. James
and that the last Legal Place of Settlement of the saidMary
Swallow & her Said two Childrenwas in the said Parish of St. Thomas a Becker in ye Clift
in the County of Sussex Aforesaid

THESE are therefore in his Majesty's Name to Order and
Require you the said Church-wardens and Overseers of the Poor of
the Parish ofSt. James aforesaid, That you, or some
of you do forthwith remove and convey the saidMay Swallow and
her Said two Childrenfrom you said Parish ofSt. James
to the said Parish ofSt. Thomas a Becker in ye Clift andthemdeliver
to the Church-wardens and Overseers of the Poor there, or some or
one of them, together with this our Warrant, or Order, or a true
Copy hereof, whereby they are likewise require'd in his Majesties
Name, and by Virtue of the Statutes in such Case made, forthwith
to receive the saidMary Swallow< no role > and her Said two Children
into their saidParish & Careand provide forthem
as their won Parishioners. Given under our Hands and Seals, the
16thDay ofAugustAnno RegniDui Mr
