Examination TextSarah Clarke aged 20 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St. Mary White Chapel in the County of Middlesex upon her oath saith that she is the widow of William Clarke (who died two years ago) to whom she was married at St Mary's Church White Chapel about three years ago, that he was a Peruke Maker by trade and lived in and rented an house in Whitcombe Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid for the space of one year at the yearly rent of 18 pounds besides taxes, quitted the same about seven years ago, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant since, nor hath she this Examinant since the death of her said husband. Taken in the workhouse the 21st Day of December 1756.
