Examination TextElizabeth Preston aged about 36 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St Giles in the Fields in the County of Middlesex upon her oath saith that she is the widow of Thomas Preston (who died nine years ago) to whom she was married at the ffleet about 16 years ago, that he lived in and rented an house near the Greyhound in Drury Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid for the space of seven years at the yearly rent of 26 pounds besides taxes and there died, and that she this Examinant continued to live in and rent the same for the space of five years after her said husband died at the yearly rent aforesaid, and that she this Examinant hath not kept house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant since she quitted the said house which is about four years ago. Sworn the 27th Day of January 1757 before Thomas Kynaston.
